Children and Funerals

When a death occurs in the family children can be very confused. The days around the time of death may alter daily routines leaving children bewildered and upset.

We have a trained Nursery Nurse on our staff who can help you to answer some of the questions that children may ask and to assist parents with some of the difficult decisions they will have to make. These decisions may be: 'Should my child attend the Funeral' -- 'How do I explain what a Funeral is?' -- 'How much do I tell my child?'

We are here to make this time easier and to help you to encourage your children to play an active part in the Funeral arrangements and to help to reduce their distress by giving them an opportunity to express themselves. We have a variety of resources and play ideas to enable this process and we give as part of our arrangements with you, a 'Child Bereavement Charity' 'Remembering Book' free of charge for your young children.

An appointment can be made with our Nursery Nurse (NNEB) Gail to meet with you and and your children if you so wish at a mutually agreed time.
